Hi everyone, just a quick update. We arrived back at Point of Grace safely after our safari. We played a few games with the kids, visited classrooms tonight since they are all in class until 9 PM.

We are all resting up tonight since tomorrow morning we will be mudding the house, bright and early. We should get some good pictures from that.

Just two more sleeps at the guest house before we begin our journey home. We hope you all are doing well. We can't wait to share the many stories of our trip with you!

Jambo! We have had a packed couple of days here at Point of Grace. We attended church at two different places, at the school with over 400 kids and in a "bush" church.

The last two afternoons we played games with the kids for two hours each day. There has been a lot of basketball, frisbees, and soccer.

The highlight of yesterday was the strong storm that popped up. We got stuck on the ball field without shelter amidst heavy rain, strong wind, and Kenyan snow (hail!). The kids didn't know what to think since hail is very rare here. Needless to say we were all soaked. But it was fun to watch the kids reactions.

This morning we split up into 3 groups and made 12 home visits. It is always humbling being welcomed into these homes. Some of the houses are ones we visited last trip and so we were able to catch up.

Late morning we joined one of Pastor Meekers churches for a ground breaking ceremony for the house we will be building on Saturday. We will be building a house for the other local pastor, Pastor Hezbon, and his family.

This afternoon we split up again and the ladies joined the beading ladies and the gentlemen prepared the chicken coop for tomorrow's arrival of 250 boiler chickens. In the morning Pastor Chase, Pastor Meeker, Brad, Richard (the Richard famous in many mission trip stories) will be heading to Kisumu to pick up chicks....ummm I mean THE chicks! 😀

We are all doing well. We have had a few bumps and bruises from games with the kids. But otherwise we are all doing well! Thank you for your continued prayers. We really appreciate your support!

Hi Friends!
Today was our final day of VBS. We had to adjust a bit to accommodate the whole school but I think if you ask the team, it was much better with everyone. We preformed all our skits and made cross necklaces. We can't wait to post pictures for you all.

To back track a bit (since there was no blog post yesterday), yesterday after lunch, we joined the local women's group for a Bible study which Pastor led. Soccer was he game of choice for the after class activity so we all went up to the ball field. While Cathy didn't play soccer, she answered a variety of questions for the kids from Minnesota crops and weather, to all our families and jobs. The kids are fascinated with learning about our culture.

After lunch today, the team split up. The men headed up to the library and finished covering up books and the women headed to town and bought some supplies for our upcoming home visits. We will be taking things like rice, salt, sugar, flour, oil, and a bag. Lorna says this will provide meals for 12 homes that otherwise might not have a thing to eat.

After supper we joined the high school for a religion class. Pastor Meeker and Pastor Chase has a chance to speak to the kids about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Tomorrow we will join the kids for church and then attend a service in the community. Pastor Chase will have the chance to preach for both services. Our afternoon will be spent with the kids since they have the day off from school.

As always, thank you for your prayers for our safety and work here. God is in this place and we are humbled to be apart of it, if even for a short time.

Hi everyone! We have come to the end of our first full day at Point of Grace and it was packed full of activities. We were able to join the teachers this morning for their devotions before school started and the we headed to VBS. We sang some songs from last visit (they remembered them all!) and taught some new ones. It was clear to our new team members how much joy the kids get out of singing. We made crosses with some of the names of Jesus we are learning and played lots of frisbee.

This afternoon we spent time in the library fixing and organizing books. This will be a project that we continue tomorrow.

We also met the kids on the ball field and some of us jumped rope (Sara), some played soccer (Lori, Kelly, and Pastor), and some let children run their fingers through their hair! Cathy is a great sport who will have some awesome stories to tell when we get home.

We were able to meet up with a lot of sponsor children throughout the day and see how they have grown and changed since last trip.

Until tomorrow! Thank you all for your continued prayers. We appreciated them very much.

Jambo! Hello from Kenya! We have arrived here safely. Our flights were smooth (mostly) and on time. We breezed through the airport without any incidents. This was the first trip that we're not asked to pay taxes on the goods we were bringing into the country. That means we have more funds freed up to put towards other projects on the trip.

We are currently about half way through our drive to Point of Grace. We have stopped for lunch in Nakuru. It is known for Lake Nakuru and it's flamingos. At this rate, we should be to our final destination by mid afternoon.

Thank you all for your prayers. We are excited to get to work!

Just a quick update. We have landed safely in Amsterdam! The flight was good and fairly smooth. We have a LONG layover in Amsterdam but it will give us a chance to finalize some details and enjoy each other's company. Thanks for all your prayers. We are HALF WAY THERE!
